tierra cielo vuelo :-) earth sky fly

San Pedro is a little town builded on a mountain and direct at the Lago atitlan. the big lake is surounded by three vulcanos and a lot of small villages between the Mountains. the raining season was starting and it begans to rain almost every evening, but over the day we had sun.

in the first days we chilled in Mr. mullets. my favourit travel group was getting more and more boring, because Sarah and kacy were i touch like a couple and they did a lot of coke... after two days in San Pedro we moved from Mr. mullets to hostel fe, because there was more action. Daniel was coming back from el Salvador and hoped to get in touch with choley again, but she met her ex boyfriend like in every place we have been and they became a couple again. poor dan. i started my language course on friday and moved from fe to my homestaying familiy. we had a great evening beginning with a quiz in hostel fe. we went together to the sublime bar with electronic music and met our girls there. that was the last evening with the complete travel group and we danced like crazy! the next day Sarah left and i stayed at home because i was sick with my cold. it's a shame for me because it was the last day of dan and i really wanted to say good bye, but i just felt into Sleep. sorry dan!

on monday the girls from Danmark, Luis and Tina and i did a Kajak Tour around san Pedro. it was very interesting because the water level of the lake raised over the years. it was possible to go by Kajak into the houses in the water, very funny.

the next day i went to panajachel for paragliding. we tried to do it three times before, but the weather was always too bad. i called Stefanie in the break and she said come as soon as possible. i finished my course a little bit earlier and went directly to the company. they were already waiting for me and we went up the mountain with a pick up. my Pilot was Leo , a bad english speaking guy from argentina. he prepared everything and tied me in Front of him. the Start was crazy because we stood only 3 meters away from the border of the straight down going cliff. Leo introduced me and we started. the glide pulled us back 2m and we just got up. it was a amazing feeling to fly over the small towns and big mountains. we did some acrobatics in air like turning very fast and i got dizzy, but it was pure fun. we flew 45 min, compared to some experience i heard from before, that was a really long flight!

we, the danish girls and i, stayed one week with private families for home staying. the familiy of the girls was nice, they told me. they ate together and played games after that. my experience was a little bit different... i lived in the backside of the town, more or less high in the mountain. the friendly familiy consits of grandparents, parents and a cute little daughter. they have a small farm in the town, where some other guys are living aswell. the area was very local and Mike and me seamed to be the only tourist there. Mike was a stupid and boring english guy. we weren't really in contact with the familiy, only with the granny rosa. it was her job to entertain us and Cook and clean for us. we ate three times a day only together with her, because the kitchen wasn't huge enough for all of us, that was a little bit boring.... it was probably not the best familiy to stay at, but my teacher Ruben was pretty shure the best. we laughed a lot, he told me a lot of stories about the weekends in San Pedro! but we had serious topics aswell and Ruben was a very sympatic guy in my age. the improvement of my spanish is amazing, i love this language!

four primitives were coming out of the wild djungle back to the third world civilisation (con carne). we arrived on time in hostel holistico because sarah said "look at that sign, tomorrow is the first anniversaty of the hostel". but the woman from the reception said "no it is today, it is just a sign from yesterday. we Start in 20 min"...!!! they builded up a big buffet with a lot of fingerfood and a desk with Drinks for free! we just throwed our things in the room and went to the tarrace in the backyard. we met directly a lot of travel buddies we met anywhere before, for example the mexicans Gabriel and Pedro, very fine guys! so we started to drink very soon. the owner of the hostel was called Sergio he was well known for always trying to fill up innocent tourist boys and fuck them. the first thing the mexicans told us was that Sergio fucked a poor german guy who was definitly too drunken. they said they have seen how he was blowing.... it was a shame for him and he left the pretty next day early in the morning... i was scared of Sergio, he touched my ass and shouted out things like, "hey boys, common dance with me" through the sound system with DJ :-( it was a really nice Party, open bar , sound system and wild dancing! they finished the Party around 10 and we went out to different Clubs.

Antigua is a big City in the relation of Guatemala. with the common square structure and a very big market with a lot of handmade stuff and Art. we didn't See the whole town or the important sights but we had fun and went shopping several times!

the bus Shuttle from flores was 8 hours long. our first destination was lanquin from there we drove another 40 min with the pick up to Hotel utopia in the middle of nowhere. Mike an american we met in flores recomanded his volunteering place and we went there together. If you are an alternative veggie hippie you will love this place!

an alternative experience in the nature, with very noisy and big insects. sometimes these stupid Animals were so loud that i had to close my ears with my fingers... our vegetarian dinner was every evening at 7 and the crazy animals liked to crash on the tables, always with the reaction of screaming and escaping girls. the only possibility to get rid of them was to catch them with two fingers or hands and set them out again. a funny fact, If you shake that alienlike animals in your hands they make the terrible sound! maybe they are called cikates..?

at the first day in utopia we used the more or less free tubes and went tubing. we went down a small trail next to the river around 15 minutes and had a very slow and relaxed tube ride. we did that two times through the very beautiful surounding big djungle Mountains. Amy and Daniel tried to stand up on the tube with almost no succes :-( the small rapids are coming every 10 min in the river are a little bit exciting it was a nice relaxing day with an end around the fire at the Hotel own fire spot. Mike played the guitar and entertained us pretty good.

the second day was much more exciting because we did the cave Tour. the Tour started with the cave. a cave mean a dark Tunnel with a very slow flowing river inside. it was very dark and we had only a candle as light. it was wet and slippery aswell and somtimes the water was too deep to walk that we had to swim with the candle. we climbed up and down on unsafe ladders and through pretty small holes and tunnels. at the end of the cave was a small pool even big enough to jump in. we had to climb up to maybe 8 meters height and jumped off into the small hole of 2,5 m diameter. no it wasn't dangerous and the following big swing wasn't that too. it was like the rope swing in flores but much bigger and a real swing with two ropes. two massive steel hosts sticking 15 m straight to the sky. the jump off was in a height of approximately 10 meters, they told us "once you are on the swing there is no coming back we have to jump because otherwise we will hit the hosts on the way back", saftey first! but it was fun If you jumped off a little bit controlled to prevent a belly flop someone did very painful... the next stop was the 12m bridge where dan, Chloe and i jumped off, followed by a very local fried chicken lunch. after that we all went with the pick up to a near by national parc or river Ressort. we hiked about a half an hour straight up to a amazing viewing point. we saw the beautiful river with a lot of pools like steps in it, pretty good. the way down wasn't really exhausting compared to the way up. the water was clear and the pools are big enough to swim in. we slided down from one step to the other on the rocks like natural slides and explored a small under the rock aIR space. at least we went back to our Hotel on the river with a big tubing group. wow what a very full and exciting day!

the tikal early bird sun rise guat the fuck tour was annoying. Sarah woke me up at 2:30 to sit in the bus at 3. chloey had sent us a message that she was too wasted to join us. after a long bus ride we finally arrived tikal and had to walk through the very dark djungle. Sarah and i were well prepared with a magazin of different torches, breakfast and lunch packages and a lot of water... no, we had nothing nada, and no possibility to shop something, too early! we had to hike a half an hour in the dark untill we arrived a place where the guide showed us a stair up to the top of one temple. on top we sat down on the highest step of the stone stair of the temple, to See everything. and we saw 15 Meter of unmoving djungle and mist. it was unbelizeable boring and we started to freez after 15 min of 1 hour waiting for shit fucking nothing. but after that we have seen the really impressive pyramids! when the guide said that we had seen everything and that we could explore the area by ourselves, Sarah and i ran directly to the restaurant far away from yhe temples...

the small Island in the middle of the lake is very charmful with colorful houses and stone streets. we arrived at the right time because they had a big fiesta de semana Santa in the town with a massive DJ stage on the Main street. we drove crazy and danced on the stage. the hostel los amigos was excellent, a friendly and green Party hostel with delicous huge hamburger! they have a Party area with a big yenga game with rules on the brickets like 'put of a part of your clothes' or 'buy a round New drinks'. we laughed so much it was pure fun.

at the second day we went together with a group of mas o menos 10 guys to a rope swing near by the Island. a rope swing is only a rope tied at a high point in a tree, you swing from a high point into the water. super simple but mega fun, i jumped around ten times. some guys had special skills like jumping with the head down or finishing with a back flip.

the best possibility to go from playa to Belize City is to go by the ADO luxury bus with aircon and TV! Belize City  is one of the most dangerous cities in the world, so we took a taxi from the bus Station to the boat Dock. i met three british guys and went with them to caye caulker. the boat ride was a torture with a lot of hard bumps on the waves.

caye caulker is a small pradiselike Island. the Island is really beautiful and quiet and friendly and sunny!!! there are no beaches in caye caulker only Piers and the Main Pier was called split because the island was splitted in two parts by a Tornado at that place. a lot of dark skinned rastas are living there and some mayan like people. the spoken language is english, thats good for Smalltalk, definitly easier than spanish! the Slogan of the Island was go slow, once i was a bit in rush to meet the girls a local stopped me and said: "why are you going so fast man? go slow!" :-)

i lived in hostel Bellas, quiet and good, better than dirty mac nasty :-) in the first days i hung up with the norwegian girls and we did a very exciting sailing boat trip with snorkeling for 6 hours. what we saw was really awesome like big rays , nurse sharks and Turtles with a length of one Meter! wow, that was one of the best days of my trip presented by ragamuffin Tours. on the way back from the amazing reef to caye caulker they offered free rum punch, so we all got already a little pissed when we jumped off the boat. we came together again only a short time later to See the beautiful sunset at the split like everyone every evening did. after the split we went to a house of some australian boys. they had some Kind of an own house with a big tarrace. we had some nice nights there with playing card games and talking and so on.

the girls left 3 days after my arriving and i met some cool canadians at Bellas. a couple and the sister of the boy. they packed all they had in several big backpacks and they had a solution for almost every Problem! it was fun to waste time with them. we smoked a lot of weed and relaxed with some card games, they showed me some funny New ones. one night cory prepared a big rum Bowle with a lot fruits, it was great! we all were sitting around the massive tables.

in Addition i met my New travel group step by step. chloey, Daniel and Sarah, i never had so much fun in my life, right dan? and i met a girl again i had met in Rio before. we met her several times again because she went exactly the same way with an organized travel group.

a proud and self confident fresh advanced diver went to playa again, it was me. i met Tyler who was stucking in playa for ages again in hostel Rio. we went out in the first evening with a quiet nice Party group about 8 people. we have been in a fancy Club in calle 12 the Main Party and bar street in playa. a guy of our group had a proper spring to get more of the free drink bands, they offered us before. so not only the girls, because of ladies night had openbar, we hombres had it aswell! Tyler was freaking out with dancing at the dancfloor. the day after we had a lot of fun with tinker small sticker at the hostel, because i brought a red selfadhasive foil i brought as a colour filter for my gopro. it wasn't useful for my cam but we did our best to use it in another way!

i dove in the cenote called Chad moral. it was a really different experience, because we dove in cave like holes and channels deep under the earth with a lot of stalagtites. it was awesome and scary at the same time, but i liked it pretty much!

the feeling i had in my single privat room was amazing after 2 Weeks in dorms. Two really quiet days followed and i repacked my backpack did my laundry and sent a Package home. one day i rented a moto and suronded the island. I visited one more ruin, but it was only a small village.they have some beautiful lonley beaches on the backside of the island! i moved to the only hostel in cozumel, an Island which is complete closed at 8. after eight they had a lot of police presents there and it was always a strange feeling to go through almost empty streets at nine o'clock.... i Addition to moving i started my second diving degree and yes i became an advanced open water diver. Ugo was a funny middle aged italian dive instructor, he showed me how to dive deeper. we did a really nice drift dive in the la Punta sur reef. drift diving is the most comfortable Sport i ever have done, because you just descent to the best depth and after that you are flying with the strong current! it was a lot of fun and i did a night dive with a Finger sucking squid we met aswell. it was so horrible to read the 100 pages in the instruction book that i decided to stay a day longer only for learning.

the cute hostelito i lived had a small chill area with a nice kitchen, where we (a couple of lonley travellers) were sitting around and had some cerveza in the evenings. it was a quiet but a good time and everyone were concentrated in diving. we builded a group of 6 of 7 travellers with a lot of different nationalities and everyone of us were travelling by his own, funny :-) 

The norwegian girls and i went together to Tulum, that's only 1 hour from playa del carmen. Tulum is a little town or even a village with a strange structure, because it has one Main street with a lot of traffic. there are some small side streets, but nothing more.... very long and very boring.

we have been there together for two days in a cute little cabaña, thats a wooden cabin. The mayan ruins weren't that amazing, but we had a lot of fun when we visited them because we were kidding and joking. the dissapointing ruins were followed by a pretty nice Beach, where i went for a run. i helped some locals to turn a boat up side down. after the New experience we went to a fish restaurant and i ate pretty good tacos with shrimps. that was a good farewell, because after the dinner it was time to say good bye and i travelled by my own to isla cozumel.

Luuk, chee and i travelled from isla mujeres to playa. Unfortunately Rio was full, so i stayed In The dirty happy gecko hostel... At the first night we had a pretty good Party at the roof of hostel Rio, they have a small bar with mini pool there. It was nice to meet a lot people have been in poc na before there and we enjoyed the night with a lot of free Tequila! 

The second evening started boring with a lonley dinner in the evening, but thats a normal thing If you are travelling by your own. I promissed myself to take that day off, because i felt very hangovered... But then i met a couple of german girls at the restaurant inviting to a cheap mojito course in their hostel.... Mojito course means 10 minutes learning Phase how to mix a mojito and after that drink as much as you can! We went to a crazy Club with 1 liter Cups cuba libre, like in cancun. After that we were at a Beach Club and had a lot of fun with dancing and laughing.

The very next day i went out to find another hostel, better than the shitty dirty and boring sad gecko, and found the norwegian girls in Front of my choosen hostel che. Check in. My daily run followed and my daily quesadillas from the Favorit and very delicious taco place. Camilla asked me If we go to the open bar and pizza all you can eat Party at our hostel. I agreed and invited the guys from Rio. The evening started at our hostel with open bar and pizza all you can eat between 8 and ten. the only problem was that they served the pizza at 9 and the open bar started at 8. I was so hungry because we hadn't eaten dinner before to safe money. when the pizza cames we were already a litte bit pissed... ;-)
