Panama City Panama - big city chill out

Dienstag, 10.06.2014

A bit tired of traveling long distances i arrived panama city after a 10 h night bus ride. i wanted to check in the lunas castle hostel, but had to wait untill the reception opened. it was very early and i slept a bit on the couch in the lobby. they explained to me that they have a special system and that the only check in time was 1 o'clock, so i had to wait. i went around in the old city and got some breakfast. back in the hostel i met the german guys again and we went together to a big shopping street. they told me that they met a nice italian guy they went out with i met aswell that night after the germans had left. our homogeneous group of men went to some local bars. the beer was pretty cheap but the vibe and the atmosphere a little biut strange and boring. we end in the red lion bar for tourist, which was very expensive.

on the second day i went with the danish guys to the famous panama canal. the museum, the movie and the viewing platfrom were interesting but not exiting. after that we went went to a big mall and grabed some food. in the evening we met all in the hostel own bar for the 50 cent a beer happy hour and went out to the hard rock hotel. the beat sky bar was in the 62. floor and offered us a breathtaking view all over panama city. of course the bar was very fancy and expensive, but we spent enough time there to take some pictures and sit down for a while. after that went back to the hostel and stucked again in the hostel bar.

Bocas del Torro Panama - living on the water and sloths

Donnerstag, 05.06.2014

when i wanted to buy my ticket for the shuttle to Bocas del Torro, the boleteria was closed. spontaneously i decided to buy the much cheaper local bus ticket. that was a mistake, i needed 5 hours instead of 3 h and they charged me more less the same because i was too late for the local bus in panama... in the collectivo i met two dutch girls took me with to the hostel.

the aqua lounge was a very special hostel builded completly on the water. the outside terrace had big pool like holes in the ground to jump into the sea and swings and a big trampoline! normally a pretty chilled hostel on very local and smooth island, but on wednesdays (i arrived wednesday) and sundays the hole village comes to the hostel for the big parties.

the first party night was ok, but not that special, i met tom and the guys and hung around with a couple of dutch guys. we went together to a restaurant and had some delicious meals. the only problem was that one of the dutch guys didn't speak english fluently and i didn't speak dutch.... but it was funny!

i went on a hole day boat trip to a lot of different places. for example a dolphin bay where we saw a group of dolphins. we went to a very shallow area where a lot of sea stars and cucumbers laid on the ground. the main attraction of the the trip were 2 untoched islands a bit outside of the island group. we visited one very beautiful and had 2 hours there. my group was perfect and we laughed a lot during our stay. the island was tiny and we went half around always on the nice perfect beach. because of that nobody lives there the beach was spiked buy some dropped down palmtrees. i pick a coconut from a small tree and smashed it open. some coconut milk is the best refreshing drink on a lonely island! on the way back we met some dolphins aigain and i deciced to jump into the water to swim with them, but once in the water i got scared of their hugeness and they disapeared directly. in addition i recognized that i lost my sunnys during the jump in the water.we stopped at a restaurant and grabed some food and last but not least we went to another place to see some wild sloths. one of them was very closed to us and reacted on my sounds with turning his head in 2 minutes, unbelievable quick!

We chilled plenty of time in the hostel and i hung around with two friendlzy and funny german guys and a couple of girls from austria. more or less the first time i spoke that much german on my trip. we cooked and ate together and had a good time. once we all went together to the red frog beach and fortunately at the best and sunniest day we had in bocas, because the rain season had already started there. we spend a couple of hours on the the beach drank some beer, played football or had fun in the water with the amazing and strong waves. it was a beautiful day with the saturday hostel party in the night. i was really sorry for peter when he asked me if we should smoke a good night joint together, because we bought it together but i smoked the rest alone. so we decided to go with the water taxi to the main insland and buy some weed. it wasn't easy to find a dealer in the middle of the night and the only local we net gave us a really bad price, but we something to smoke. after that we only wanted to go back to the hostel and smoke a joint. it was raining cats and dogs and the village was totally deserted, even the docks were empty and we were very afraid that we didn't find a possibility to go back to our hostel. but at the third dock a lonely captain was waiting for us and made us a happy end.

Puerto Viejo Costa Rica - Back to caribean beaches

Sonntag, 01.06.2014

I went alone to the capital san jose where i stayed one night. The hotel, a woman at the bus terminal showed me, was a shitty hovel with cockroaches in the bathroom and very dirty walls everywhere. my room had approximatly 3 square meters. At the next morning i got up at 5 and was unfortunally to late at the boleteria (ticket shop) to get a seat and my ticket was stamped with 'de pie'!

Puerto viejo is a dreamy small village with some original caribean beaches. it is convenient to rent a bicicle and explore the areas around. it is very quiet and slow like many places in or at the caribean sea. the people are mostly nicarguan but mixed with a lot of rasta men maybe from jamaica.

accidentally i met camilla on the main street when she was getting out of the bus. we went together to my hostel and she checked in next door because my hostel was full. Her friend stella came that evening aswell. next day we rented us some bikes and went to a cacao farm with museum. we decided to take no guide for 15 dollar and did it right. the first part of the parc was with some maschines used for the cacao prduction, but the rest was a more or less cacao tree field because there were not much cacao trees. It was interesting but not that special but the upside is that camilla and i stole some souvenirs, two pug crocodiles ;-)

once we went to a boring waterfall in the middle of nowhere. Stella was a bit scared because we read about the disapeared girls from holland before. we tried to reach the big waterfall by walking against the flow, but with no succes because it was to difficult in some parts of the river. at least we sat a bit on the stones and talked. on the way the taxi driver wasn't waiting how promised and we decided to went back by our own. that was funny because we have seen a very local side and met a small guy in a age of 12 who droves his cows on a pretty much to motorbike. he was delighted to see us and showed us his pasture and some very sour fruits. in addition we saw a lot of animals and talked to some other locals, like one farmer showed us proud his black corn imported from nicaragua and explained that he was starting to grow that in his area.

after a very expensive farewell dinner camilla and i went out and met the danish guys again. a was a funny night with running through heavy rain and a lot of rum coke. another thing that happened in viejo was that i felt into sleep on the beach at my first day and got a really strong sun stroke in the night... shit happens! i went with a couple of guys to a famous animal shelter for wild animals. That was very interesting with a lot of snakes and slothes (faultiere) and super cute small monkeys! at all i had some quiet and chilled days in viejo and hung a lot on the beach or in hammocks.

Monteverde Costa Rica- action on the green mountain

Dienstag, 27.05.2014

the green mountain is easy to reach from Nicaragua, but i waited too long at the laundry service and missed the first bus. at the end i stayed one night in las juntas, a small boring village in front of the Mountains... a local shared a taxi with me and showed me a cheap place to stay. once arrived in monte it was easy, a guy from the cheapest and best Backpacker hostel in town caught us directly at the bus station and brought us there. i met the danish guys there and booked my action pack!

the bungee jump was something totally New for me and i went with a couple of young girls up the mountain. at the Main company action station we left everything we didn't needed and went the small trail to the tiny wagon standing on steel ropes. the girls were all before me because they were lighter and they had to change the bungee rope only for me at the end. i waited as brave as i could be and was very exited when finally my turn was coming. they counted down from five and i jumped at three 143 m down in the Valley! wow the view and the pumping adrenalin was so powerful, it was incredible!

bungee bungee

the super man zip lining the day after wasn't that adrenalin pushing, but really nice! to see the amazing landscape in a lying position and running on the line with a killer speed let you really feel like Superman! we all enjoyed that and i took some awesome vids with my go pro, yeah! finally came the Tarzan swing and it seemed to be a small extra attraction. it was a jump and swing combination and i was a bit scared to jump down. but once you jump it get your whole budy with a heavy prickling in in your belly. even the other guy who said that he jumps without screaming screamed like a pig in the slaughter house! by the way i met some calm and friendly girls from austria i met again in bocas del torro. perfect action in monteverde, highly recommended!

in Addition i had a funny Party with some beertowers. after 10 nobody is selling cigarettes in monte, so a local took me with on his moto (bike) for a very fast whole village Tour to check out the last possibilities. i was a bit scared but still without cigarettes when we arrived back at the bar and i decided to buy some single and expensive cigs from the street dealer...

Granada Nicaragua - Nice one house Islands and kellys

Sonntag, 25.05.2014

the nice middle big City in Nicaraguas north has a good and very local flair. the town seams to be busy and a large part of the center is market. the huge central Park is beautiful with all his old monuments and a lot of horse drawn carriages around.

my hostel was the cheapest i have ever seen, 4 Dollar for a big dorm in colonial style and a nice small garden. the girl from the reception called gris or similar was very friendly and invited me to some potts. we smoked together in the kitchen or her room in the backside of the hostel. she was nice and tried to practice my spanish by speaking but gave up pretty soon.... no hablo espanol....

i met Pedro, zuzanna and Dany again and we went out together with some guys from the hostel. on a cross in the middle of the City we met more and more people we travelled with, like Tina and Louise, Aaron and some guys and the danish guys and we went with about 25 guys to the Kellys bar. there was a really nice Party with a lot of locals! the next day was almost the same with a 6$ rum free Party. i forgot to say that we drank a lot of rum the day before, because Pedro ordered selfmade packages from the bar with a bottle of rum, a Bowle ice and Coke of course and convinced me to drink with them!

one day i went together with two german girls to an amazing place in the huge lake. there was a village consisting of Islands with only one house or restaurant on each we went through with a boat. it was like an area of riches and the gardens were very colorful and impressive! on one of the Islands lives a monkey familiy and we saw the cute mini monkey kids. another day we, some guys from backyard and i stayed a day at a local Lagune. it was OK, but the weather wasn't that optimal, we swam and paddle a bit and went back soon, with 8 men in one taxi, fun :-)

Isla de Ometepe Nicaragua - Hike maderas

Donnerstag, 22.05.2014

back to nature was for the english girls very dissappointing. it was not what they expected because the village was a bit boring, like some seperated houses and less infrastructure. wasn't easy to find a good place, the recommended hostels were full and we stayed in a only room hostel the first night. chilled around and played some cards. in the middle of the night tom wanted to eat something, we borrowed the Scooter from Pedro and went to the next closed hostel. tom droped the moto on the ground and i decided to be the driver after that. the little Morgans hadn't any food aswell but tom invited me to the promissed beer and we talked with some american girls.

the second day started with a run throug the 'village' and on the Beach. we moved to hostel Santa Cruz, which has the same Name as the village. it was better and after breakfast the englisch girls, Charlie and i considered to rent a Scooter. the only local bike rental had only one cross bike, so Charly made the Shuttle service for us to ojo de agua. ojo de agua was a nice spring with two big pools. i met Dany there and we talked a bit in german, i liked it in that moment. we swam in the clear water and drank a coco loco, thats a coconut with rum and evaporated milk, delicous! in the evening we played cards and Steve showed us funny card Tricks.

the hike on the vulcano maderas wasn't a walk in the Park. we started at our hostel at 7:30 h and hiked up 4 h. it was partly very humid and wet and muddy. we slid through the deep djungle between rocks and trees and sometime it was near by climbing. on the top we had a beautiful view on the lake in the crater. this view is often Misty and you cannot See anything, the guide told us. we went happy back and the guide said that we can go by our own and we did it. sounds easy, but it wasn't because we didn't find the way back. surprisingly we went through some farms and over cow patures and asked the locals for the way. i stayed one more night and went with the guys from the hike to a very alternativ hostel with big fresh pizza. a girl told us about her how to change the world project far in the future....

San Juan Del Sur Nicaragua - ¡Sunday Funday!

Sonntag, 18.05.2014

casa del olas was a quiet nice hostel in the mountains, but full. despite all efforts to reservate a bed in a dorm they hadn't any place for, and the cool guy from said only, first come first in, que bien. the next hostel was the naked Tiger and they offered us the couches in the lobby for 5 a night, we took them and stayed there three or four days. the hostel was OK with a small pool and beautiful sea view!

the first night we went into the City with the shuttle and met the mexican guys and camilla in mama pacha, right tom? that was the Party hostel inside the town. we had a cool night with some beers. i met a spanish girl really wanted to smoke weed like me and we went on the street to buy a tried leaf had nothing to do with weed, shit happens! the next day wasn't mine, i was in bad mood and hadn't fun untill i was back in the hostel and started flunky ball with some englisch guys. english people are perfekt flunky players, drinking animals. the danish guys were a bit more careful with that obviously hard drinking game and only Jakob played. over the rounds we convinced some other players, like some Israeli guys. we played 8 rounds and my Team was very succesful, maybe a bit too much for my day of... Jakob passed out in the last round because he couldn't stand anymore...

sunday funday was the only reason we have been in San Juan! we found out it is a pretty good reason! i went to Pacha mama to meet the others lived there and we took the Shuttle to the Pelikan Ressort. that was most perfect part of the hole day. a big Hotel with a great poolarea. it was the biggest and best pool Party i've ever been. we jumped around and played a long time in the pool surounded by loud Club music and accompanied by rum Coke! absolutly awesome, we had so much fun. the next stop was our hostel and they had prepared a big BBQ there. the last stop was the pacha mama, but there it turned to a very normal Party, because too much people passed out by their intoxication. a great hole day Party!

Leon Nicaragua - Vulcano Boarding Fever

Samstag, 10.05.2014

tom and i travelled together to Leon. it was quiet horrible after the good night we had before... i slept 40 min before i packed my stuff in 5 min and ran to the habour. tom did the same without Sleep and seperated from me, so we met at the habour and did the 2 h boat ride without puking! after another 10 h bus ride we arrived finally in Leon and i was very sleepy. the mexican guys welcome us or me and asked me to come with to a local place. i tried to catch them after they had left, but vain and went home to Sleep!

the Lava challenge contained only 3 shots, but it is hard discussed. i needed hours to get Toms agreement and we did it, for the one and only shirt! it was a bit more than disgusting, the shots were hot like tabasco and burned more than twice. tom hated me for persuade him! i have seen some challenges and a lot of crying, yelling and puking, thats one of the hardest ever! that night we went with Shuttle to the hostel own Beach bar and relaxed with cheap rumpunch around the bonfire.

vulcano boarding is not like snowboarding but it is a lot of fun! the boards we sat on where special prepared with a extra slidy plastic part on the backside which is been renewed after every ride Jeremy told us... we went up these fastest growing more or less active black vulcano within 30 minutes and took a lot of fun pictures in our orange Overalls. then the time of going down was coming and we all were very exited. i asked a guy with go pro If he can videoing my ride and he did it. i had to wait a longer time because the girl before me felt down several times. at the beginning i was really slow but it bacames faster and faster over track, tons of small black stones were hitting my mask and my hole Buddy. i did the mistake to open my mouth once, so my mouth was full of dirt when i arrived the end of the track with a speed of 54 km/h. holy crab, what a ride, just a crazy minute to go down! i wasn't the fastest, the fastest had a Speed around 70.

Uitila Hunduras - day dive night challenge

Freitag, 02.05.2014

the bus trip from San Pedro to la ceiba was long. we went after our course directly to Antigua, slept one night in a quiet hostel and continued at 4 am in a Shuttle to Hinduras. Josh was wsitting at the local first Class bus Station when we met him, he is a funny guy from Canada. after a nine hour bus ride to la ceiba we were a group of 6 people because we met two other girls Jenny and Nina. we chosed a small hostel next by the habour. the next day in the morning we went with the Ferry to utila.

utila ist a beautiful small Island especially for diver or those ones who wanna become one. the people are speaking english and or spanish. the Island is surounded by cayes and has some small beaches.

a lot of guys welcome me, because the others didn't want to go there, in the underwater vision. tom, the Canadian guys and Chris the becoming dive master i met partly in caye caulker before. it was a little bit a feeling like being home, i love you guys! underwater vision is a really nice combination of a dive center and a hostel with own Dock and beach bar.

i drank some beer with my buddies in the bar tranquila before we went all together to a local football (soccer) game in the small Stadium, it was cool! our next stop was one of the Main challenge bars skid row. we did the challenge what means that we drunk 4 local rum with herbals and did some aktivities between like turning around or running around the pool table. after the challenge we got a "free" shirt. we did the same in another bar called rehab.

in Addition to my more or less New Party experience i did some dives there. a night dive and 4 regular dives, but including the best spot 'northside' we have seen there, at all it wasn't that amazing. standard reefs with less sealife. tom suprised me with a awful Wrestling mask from Mexico under water and we took some funny pics. sometimes i was so bored during the dives that i started to work on my under water 3d skills , like turning , spinning and roling.

i was so happy to have my loved canadians back. we chilled and smoked a lot like i love to do with my buddies in germany. these guys are fucking awesome, i feel so comfi and relaxed surrounded by them. we played a New drinking game with Frisbee and i showed them how to play flunky ball! Bryan loved it, u r a player man!

San Pedro Guatemala - yo vuelo en español

Dienstag, 29.04.2014

San Pedro is a little town builded on a mountain and direct at the Lago atitlan. the big lake is surounded by three vulcanos and a lot of small villages between the Mountains. the raining season was starting and it begans to rain almost every evening, but over the day we had sun.

in the first days we chilled in Mr. mullets. my favourit travel group was getting more and more boring, because Sarah and kacy were i touch like a couple and they did a lot of coke... after two days in San Pedro we moved from Mr. mullets to hostel fe, because there was more action. Daniel was coming back from el Salvador and hoped to get in touch with choley again, but she met her ex boyfriend like in every place we have been and they became a couple again. poor dan. i started my language course on friday and moved from fe to my homestaying familiy. we had a great evening beginning with a quiz in hostel fe. we went together to the sublime bar with electronic music and met our girls there. that was the last evening with the complete travel group and we danced like crazy! the next day Sarah left and i stayed at home because i was sick with my cold. it's a shame for me because it was the last day of dan and i really wanted to say good bye, but i just felt into Sleep. sorry dan!

on monday the girls from Danmark, Luis and Tina and i did a Kajak Tour around san Pedro. it was very interesting because the water level of the lake raised over the years. it was possible to go by Kajak into the houses in the water, very funny.

the next day i went to panajachel for paragliding. we tried to do it three times before, but the weather was always too bad. i called Stefanie in the break and she said come as soon as possible. i finished my course a little bit earlier and went directly to the company. they were already waiting for me and we went up the mountain with a pick up. my Pilot was Leo , a bad english speaking guy from argentina. he prepared everything and tied me in Front of him. the Start was crazy because we stood only 3 meters away from the border of the straight down going cliff. Leo introduced me and we started. the glide pulled us back 2m and we just got up. it was a amazing feeling to fly over the small towns and big mountains. we did some acrobatics in air like turning very fast and i got dizzy, but it was pure fun. we flew 45 min, compared to some experience i heard from before, that was a really long flight!

we, the danish girls and i, stayed one week with private families for home staying. the familiy of the girls was nice, they told me. they ate together and played games after that. my experience was a little bit different... i lived in the backside of the town, more or less high in the mountain. the friendly familiy consits of grandparents, parents and a cute little daughter. they have a small farm in the town, where some other guys are living aswell. the area was very local and Mike and me seamed to be the only tourist there. Mike was a stupid and boring english guy. we weren't really in contact with the familiy, only with the granny rosa. it was her job to entertain us and Cook and clean for us. we ate three times a day only together with her, because the kitchen wasn't huge enough for all of us, that was a little bit boring.... it was probably not the best familiy to stay at, but my teacher Ruben was pretty shure the best. we laughed a lot, he told me a lot of stories about the weekends in San Pedro! but we had serious topics aswell and Ruben was a very sympatic guy in my age. the improvement of my spanish is amazing, i love this language!
